Noted watercolour artist of his time, he lived from 1842 to 1926. He specialised in Moorland scenes with Wild Ponies, cattle or sheep in their natural setting. His favoured settings were Dartmoor and the Scottish Highlands, but other locations such as Romney Marsh were used from time to time. He usually named his paintings with the location as a title. In 2001, one of his watercolours (he occasionally painted in oil) sold for £1,750 plus buyers premium at an Auction in Honiton.

Two Bridges, Dartmoor
A fine and typical example of Rowden's work in good order and, best of all, in it's original Victorian frame. Picture size 8"x20" approximately. (Having recently holidayed in Devon, was thrilled to discover that the place, Two Bridges, still exists.)
