Bob Bramley

Born In 1924 in the West Riding of Yorkshire, he was educated at the Wakefield Grammar School where he first showed his interest in Art. In the mid 1930’s he won a national BBC competition in his age group for painting.

He went to sea in 1941 as a cadet with the Harrison line of Liverpool, and spent an interesting time dodging U-boats (not always successfully) in the Atlantic convoys, and was once shipwrecked off Scotland and rescued by the Peterhead Lifeboat.

After the war he served as an officer, visiting many parts of the world. All this time he was sketching and learning the sea. Eventually he swallowed the anchor and has suffered from indigestion ever since! He took up farming and painting.

In 1965 he gave up farming and lived in Tudor houses, which he loved and restored to their original glory, and continued painting as the demand grew for his work. By 1975 the demand for his work was such the he gave up his house restoration to concentrate solely on painting.

His other loves are architecture and classical music, Particularly Mozart. He now lives quietly in the heart of Kent, and also paints Landscapes of his locality as well as his first love the SEA!

Bob Died in 2005.

He liked to be accurate and all his paintings are carefully researched and labelled on the back of each painting.
