Jacques Minetti and Julien Porisse Paintings

Jacques Minetti and Julien Porisse paintings have two very distinctive styles, despite being painted by the same man!

Jacques was an alter ego of the artist Julien Porisse. He painted in different styles and used the different names depending on which style he was painting.

Julien was born in Lille on May 20th 1927. He spent his childhood in England, attending Oldham Hulme Grammar School, Ratcliffe College and finally Loughborough University where he studied and gained his arts degree.

He journeyed through Europe painting and exhibiting, going on to Africa with more exhibitions. (See exhibition list below). In 1969, he did the same in America.

In 1966, he opened his own Atelier in Montmartre where he exhibited his own works and where I saw my first Jacques Minetti and Julien Porisse paintings.

T.B.James, the art critic describes his work thus:- Jaques Minetti’s work is very light and sensitive, he treats his work in an almost abstract way, playing the delicate tones, one against the other, but always remaining in harmony with nature. He has a great feeling for the traditional man made constructions as found in his native Mediterranean, typified by the French Provencal “Masse”.
