Gerhard was born in 1941 in Ober-Ramstadt near Darmstadt. The talents he possesses to a high degree, the masterful domination of form and a well developed feeling for harmonious colourism, are not everywhere valued today as they legitimately should be. None-the-less, the ability to draw well is a prerequisite for any artistic creativity. Gerhard belongs to a small group of Artists who have mastered the basic foundations of their trade and calling.
Although his work may not fit the “isms”, “Pop Art” or “Happenings” of the Establishment, the public like and enjoy his work greatly and he sells successfully throughout Europe, North America and even as far as Japan. His work has appeared in print throughout the world. He also used the name G.Leon for some “romantic” Austrian Landscapes.

Since then his works have been permanently exhibited by Galleries in Vienna, Munich, and in England (at StewArt Gallery.) Some of his works have been acquired by Public Collections such as the “Graphic Collection, Albertina, Vienna”, – The Municipal Museum, Hamburg, – and the Collection of the Ministry for Art and Education in Vienna.
Co-incidentally, his son Christian, is achieving a huge success with his floral works which are even bolder than his father’s works! Tragically, Christian died in a car crash in 2008 aged just 31.
