Born in 1922 in Manila, Philippines, Buenaventura was the son of another well know Filipino painter Teodoro Buenaventura. His father didn’t want him to study art at a young age but later his father trained him and he also became a pupil of the famous Philippine painter Fernando Amorsolo. He died in 1983
